More Cracking Soundboards! Here's a couple of photos of another popular & expensive brand of grand pianos that have small cracks seen on the top of another "solid-spruce" soundboard in a new baby grand. The cracks occurred when the piano had been exposed to our dry Arizona climate for just 3 months! Dry climates do bad things to 1-layer spruce soundboards that are not built with the Wyman Tri-Phonic multi-layer process. Wyman premium spruce soundboards do not crack or split and they sound great!

How do piano manufacturers save money? Many of them use cheaper inferior parts as can be seen in the photo below on the left. Notice the metal rods & supports behind the music rack on this well known national brand of piano? These cheap metal parts are replacing the more expensive wood supports and construction that have been used by all the finest pianos for years. Metal makes noise, has unwanted vibrations, looks cheap, and has fittings that can more easily break. But you may not notice something like this unless you look very closely at the piano. The more metal or plastic a piano has in place of proven wood parts, the less of a real piano you'll actually own. Always ask about plastic & metal parts when shopping for your piano!

Wyman does not compromise on quality like these other brands. You'll also notice the photos in the middle and far right showing how
Wyman does it. Only quality construction, heavy duty hinges, full wood music racks and wood supports! Wyman also uses the proper placement of the two wooden side supports instead of the thin accordion metal supports and rods located in the wrong place on the other brands! Just more good reasons to own a Wyman!
